Carilion Clinic is a multi-specialty, physician-led healthcare organization headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia. Carilion is the largest, not-for-profit integrated health system in Virginia, serving over 1 million people throughout Southwestern Virginia. With more than 800 physicians representing more than 81 specialties, eight not-for-profit hospitals, 248 practice sites, and 29 ACGME programs, Carilion Clinic is committed to patient-centered care, medical education, and clinical research, with a goal of providing the best possible health outcome and healthcare experience for each patient and is supported by an ongoing commitment to quality and service. We have embarked upon a bold initiative to transform a traditional healthcare system into an integrated academic clinic model with emphasis on research and subspeciality training, and we are excited to assertively expand our commitment to medical education and research with the establishment of our new medical school and research institute in collaboration with Virginia Tech -- The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI). Located in Roanoke, Virginia on our hospital campus, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class August 2010 and graduated its first doctoral class May 2014.
