Rural Health Connect is a social enterprise that exists to improves access to mental health support for rural Australians. We connect rural, regional and remote Australians to mental health professionals over telehealth.
The opportunity
Rural Health Connect holds government funding to provide psychiatric review to people attending Medicare Mental Health Centres. The assessment is free for the patient.
We are looking for psychiatrists to take on these reviews by telehealth, at whatever volume suits them.
The work
One-off psychiatric assessment by telehealth, at least 45 minutes for an initial review
Written report back to the referring centre and the patient's GP
Scope for a follow-up review where clinically indicated (similar to a MBS 291/293 model)
No ongoing management.
No prescribing, no scripts to chase, no results to follow up
Referrals are triaged and initial assessments are completed by centre staff before they reach you.
Referrals, bookings, rescheduling and administration handled by Rural Health Connect.
Patient has support after the appointment through their contact at the Centre.
Paid at approximately $790 per review.

Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
- Specialist registration with AHPRA
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Reside in Australia
- A private consulting space and reliable internet for telehealth
